Giant Hogweed - on verge (Wilcote Road) near Wychwood Way

Reported via mobile anonymously at 15:45, Friday 31 May 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

This is a Giant Hogweed on the verge slightly overhanding the road near the public footpath Wychwood Way. It poses a risk of serious harm to walkers or possibly cyclists. The plant is currently 5-6ft tall, the photos were taken about a week ago (I wasn't sure where to report it) and is has grown significantly since then.

Council ref: ENQ241006171

  • Well 2 months later and it is still there. Someone obviously slashed the main flower stem which at least meant that did not go to seed but 2 more minor stems with flowers have managed to grow out from it. I don’t know whether it was dealt with incompetently or whether a local/passerby did their best but it needs dealing with properly before someone gets hurt.
