Care of grass verge and trees

Reported via mobile in the Grass category by Mrs Rosemary Longley at 13:42, Fri 31 May 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Richmond Residents’ Association would like to establish which Council is responsible for the verge on Thorney Leys Road adjoining Richmond Village, Coral Springs Way. It extends into Curbridge Road. The grass was not cut last year, and trees and hedges are overgrown. There are no footpaths on either side of the road. Thank you.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
