Path overgrown

The public right of way (byway) which runs East-West from Lark Hill in the West of Wantage to West Lockinge is very overgrown with vegetation, it is impossible to pass anyone without pulling in to one of the few spaces along the path. The vegetation has also encroached onto the path itself, which at its widest is over a metre in width, but reduces to less than half a metre in places. This path forms part of National Cycle Network Route 544 and also forms part of the Icknield Greenway and is used by many people to commute to Harwell Campus Science Centre from Wantage and further afield, along with numerous other recreational users.

*URGENT* I had a serious accident here this evening 🙁 The path is so overgrown that it is not possible for 2 cyclists, 2 dog walkers, 2 people with pushchairs to pass each other without one standing to one side actually*in* the vegetation, which comprises almost entirely of very nasty stinging nettles. Whilst cycling I met a couple walking their dog and pushing a pushchair, pulled over to the north side of the path as I have done many times over the years BUT as the path is obscured by vegetation I didn't realise that it was actually a 6 foot drop into a ditch. I fell sideways, whacked my head, the bike landed on top of me, I've pulled my shoulder and got stung on my head, face, hands, arms, back and legs (about 50% coverage; it is agony). The couple had to help me up and drag the bike off me.
The photo shows where I fell and so now you can see there is about 5"s from the tarmac to the steep bank of the ditch.
As the OP has said, this is a highly used, highly publicised and much lauded Greenway. Please can you make it safe to use ASAP. Thank you.
