Overgrown hedges and verge blocking visibility to junction

Reported via mobile in the Hedges category anonymously at 08:50, Fri 24 May 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 7 minutes later

The hedges and verge have become very overgrown on this 50mph road and this has resulted in the junction having very limited visibility to turn right out of Rokeby Drive. Cars come along here very fast and the current sightline is very short, making it dangerous.

  • Thank you for your report. Landowners and occupiers are legally obligated to properly maintain vegetation on their property that is next to the public highway. If the vegetation affects the safety of highway users, it becomes their responsibility. However, in this instance, since the highway was not obstructed, there may not be sufficient cause to take further action at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation during statutory inspections.
