Road sign blocks pedestrian view

Reported via mobile in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 19:01, Tue 21 May 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The sign for motorists approaching the roundabout from Radley Road telling them about the skid hazard is positioned in such a way as to obscure the view of pedestrians trying to cross Radley Road. Pedestrians are also presumably invisible to motorists until they have actually stepped on to the road. This makes pedestrians more vulnerable than they need to be.

Additionally, when Oxford Road was closed on Sunday 19 May, there was a steady stream of traffic coming onto Radley Rd from Vineyard, making it hard for pedestrians to cross. Installing temporary traffic lights for pedestrians would make this safer. Motorists do not seem inclined to give way to pedestrians at that particular junction.

While the latter issue is not currently a live issue, it would be appreciated if the impact of diversions on pedestrians were taken into consideration.
