Safety issues concerning long grass around main entrance to Sandhills
Reported via desktop in the Grass category anonymously at 07:48, Wed 15 May 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The grass is now so long it is very difficult for cars to see pedestrians and cyclists around this busy junction especially at school opening and close times. Terret Avenue is due to become part of the school road closure scheme in a few weeks time and this alone will create challenges regarding safety.

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf .
