Roadside collapse at Aston Mile farm

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category by Russell Avis at 17:46, Thursday 25 April 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

I have just received an email stating that this has been fixed but I passed that spot a couple of hours ago and all I saw were several bollards around the area. Now that the rain has stopped and there is no longer water in the hole, it is obvious that it is a very dangerous issue as the road collapse is very extensive and deep. Hitting this at night despite bollards is very likely to result in a serious accident and maybe a vehicle rolling over. My apologies if this has been fixed in the last couple of hours, but I can't stress enough how bad this is. I hope if and when fixed it is a lot more that simply filling in with tarmac. This requires some form of hard base like concrete and I'd also urge the council to speak to the farm owner about making the turn more accessible to large vehicles.

  • This issue I reported over a month ago has still not been fixed as at yesterday (24th May) but going into Witney yesterday there were signs that indicate resurfacing (grit layer) was taking place nearer the Witney end and today the road is closed. I do hope that they will also fix the multiple potholes in North Street Aston as well as it is now like driving through a slalem.
