Drain STILL blocked - Underground pipes STILL blocked.

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Capt. Quackingduck at 11:40, Monday 8 April 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

On 07/03/24 you closed down one of my reports and said: "Thank you for your report. We have investigated your report, assessed the risk and we have found that the issue meets our criteria for repair and will be carried out within 28 days." Today, 32 days later, your workmen's solution was to put a cone on top of a 22cm/8in pothole, where a drain has collapsed. This will really fix the problem, as the cone will be washed away very quickly. Why not do what I have been repeatedly suggesting and clean out the drains AND the pipes between them and this will take the water away into the drainage system? Prevention is surely better than a half-baked, temporary and, largely ineffective, treatment?

  • Now that the flooding has reduced for a while, you can really see how bad the "wheel-breaker" drain is. Your "cone solution" lasted less that 24 hours, before it was knocked over. What next??????

  • Not impressed with the attempted repairs. On Tuesday 2 lorries of workmen came and put a patch on one side of the road beside the drain. Yesterday, 2 more lorries did another repair - why send the 2 on Tuesday? What a waste of our money. They have not raise the drain which is well below the road surface and leaves a reversed speed hump on a major road. There are now tarmac chippings on top of all the other rubbish in the blocked drain and the underlying problem of the pipes between the drains needing clearing, to reduce the flooding, has not been addressed at all. What is going on????
