Rash of Potholes due to Overweight 'SUVs'& not designed for old Road Surfaces?

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 11:40, Sun 7 April 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Its well known that in recent years the 'SUVs'and in future possibly Electric SUVs are far heavier than the road surface was designed for. This in Bath Street (a daily commuter nose to tail rat run)for example is resulting in far faster detioration of the road surface into 'Potholes'. Either a stronger substrate must be laid or the pothole repair effort is going to fall far behind. throughout Oxfordshire. In Bath Street last year a few were patched in 2-3 feet patches but you can see whats simply happening is that loads of new parts area just carry on crumbling a few months later so there are 100s 'patches'covering the road all with continuing crumbling edges! Like plugging a leaky ship with sellotape! (Maybe Carry on Crumbling could be a new Carry On Movies?) Basically the entire tarmac surface of Bath Street & every other affected Oxfordshire Road from top to bottom is worn out. 100 s patches arent going to stop it.& the flood of pothole epidemic. The over weight SUVs are the final nail in the coffin. Biggos Problemos!

  • Good luck with that. The council stopped caring about delivering decent infrastructure the same time they started putting gay flags up everywhere. Their priorities are clear. Time for better councillors.
