Pavement damage causing water ingress and damage at property,

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 10:41, Thu 4 April 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later

On Monday 11th March I filed the following report regarding pavement cracking/pothole and damage to a broadband fibre box causing water ingress to the cellar at 9 Southern Road and subsequent damage to structural timbers:-

I called Oxfordshire council to chase this up last week and was told the matter was in hand.

I have just seen an update to say the problem has been fixed. It hasn't! There has been no change in the status of this problem. Meanwhile the damage is getting worse. I am extremely concerned regarding safety within the property and would greatly appreciate a proper update.

This is a very serious situation and I am now doubly concerned that it appears to have been closed, marked 'fixed', when this is not the case.

  • Hello again.

Would it be possible to talk to somebody about this?

The situation at 9 Southern Road is very serious we seem to be no further forward.

    There are two issues here:

    1) Water ingress through the pavement, involving what appears to be the destruction of sub-pavement plastic membrane material - possibly when the nearby fibre box was installed, and

    2) Water ingress via the leaking fibre box system installed at the level of the sub-floor/cellar ceiling timbers at No.9.

Both situations need to be resolved and we seem to be getting nowhere with either.

Meanwhile No.9 is continuing to suffering progressive damage which requires urgent repairs. These cannot be carried out until water ingress from the pavement and fibre box system have been resolved.

It would be really helpful to be able to speak to somebody about this as a matter of urgency.
