Reported via desktop by Paul W at 09:49, Wed 27 March 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council 1 minute later
A fence, approx 2m high and more than 1km long has recently been erected on the north side of this road from 51.517967247239355, -0.9415488706265205 to 51.51875725841869, -0.9293294257000752. This poses an obstruction and danger to wildlife. Rabbits won't be bothered but deer have frequently crossed here for at least 30 years. Could not adjustment be made to enable connection to the existing wildlife corridors, for example at 51.51676699074388, -0.932417331835457 and 51.516393831690294, -0.9374322014575535 and 51.51721218542599, -0.939618923591835?

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. While Oxfordshire County Council is not responsible for this problem as this appears to be deer fencing and is on private land rather than adopted highway. We suggest you contact Thames Valley Police Wildlife Crimes officer at https://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/ advice/ advice-and-information/ wc/ wildlife-crime/ . However just to note the FMS report does not provide evidence that a wildlife crime has been committed. Regards
