Misplaced speed limit sign
Reported via mobile in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 14:36, Tue 5 March 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 7 minutes later
You’ve put a single 20 mph sign half way along a country lane. There are no signs placed at either end of the lane (the lane is entirely within Spelsbury village) and motorists will have already been exceeding the speed limit by the time they see the sign.
In addition, the sign is placed within the vehicle turning curve of our drive and we have to be careful not to hit it when leaving our house. It’s only a matter of time until someone hits it with their car.
The sign(s) need to be placed at either ends of the lane to be effective.
Please relocate.

Thank you for your report. We have concluded our assessment and closed this report. After completing a thorough site investigation, it was determined that the 20mph repeater sign is positioned sufficiently on the verge away from the road.
