  • Photos taken this morning, a relatively dry day, but after the ice had disappeared. My pen knife (approx 10cm long) shows the scale.

The lane has been a river bed, more or less continuously since the autumn. Recent Council work to re-cut some of the grips, didn't stop the water getting on to the road surface and running along it. And so some of the pothole repairs before Christmas were only a temporary patch-up.

The flowing water has collapsed the road structure and scours out the potholes, leaving the large pieces of road stone as an additional hazard (one piece can be seen to the left of my pen knife).

There are perhaps 20 or more serious potholes along the lane and long lengths of broken road edges causing damage to vehicles and posing an injury or even life threatening risk to cyclists.

PLEASE, will the Council produce a proper solution for these issues.

  • We have assessed the area highlighted and due to the type of Carriageway Deterioration, the road is has been identified as suitable for the Dragon Patching. The location has been added to our programme list and remedial repairs will be carried out when dragon patcher is next in the area.
