Icy Path

Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 11:13, Mon 26 February 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

This footpath has water constantly flowing down it. It turns to Ice and is extremely dangerous as it slopes down. Unfortunately on a dark frosty morning I slipped, ended up in A&E with 5 fractured ribs. Subsequently have heard of similar concerns with falls by others.

  • This is still a very serious issue. Please read message below: a few days ago my husband slipped in the ice and fell and damaged his leg and knee coming down this pathway. (Spring path cuttlebrook) As you can see from this photo, the spring from the wood over runs and comes down onto the path making it dangerous This makes it very slippy at all times and in icy weather it is much worse as it’s not looked after, there is no salt put on it. This is not the first time that somebody has fallen over in the bad weather. Is there any way somebody could fix this? It needs a trench in the wood and drained before it comes onto the pathway to avoid this being dangerous even when it’s damp and wet it is slippery. a lot of older people use this route to get from the Chiltern Vale estate into the town, and many children from the school as well. please look into this urgently before somebody does serious injury. Also if a salt container could be put in place then people that walk the path can put salt down when needed. But the spring from wood needs to be sorted urgently
