Witnessed a near miss hear due to extended parking bays
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings category anonymously at 11:29, Fri 23 February 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The parking bays have been extended (sometime around Christmas 2023) and this junction/area has become a real pinch point for traffic as when cars are parked there (almost all the time) the carriageway is not wide enough for 2 cars to pass - its worse when larger vehicles/buses or emergency vehicles are trying to get through. Who in the council sanctioned this change to the highway and what surveys of use were completed as they need to be revisited/reviewed before there is a serious accident here.

Regularly see vehicles heading from the cross assuming they have right of way on this main route in and out of Banbury which now isnt wide enough for two lanes of traffic after the recent addition of additional parking spaces. Foolish decision which is dangerous to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians

I also witnessed a near miss here today. This one involved pedestrians too. Who decided extending these bays was a good idea? This is a fatality waiting to happen because of poor planning.
