Drainage ditches

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 15:53, Monday 12 February 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The ditches adjacent to this area, principally north-east and north-west, should drain into the adjacent Berrick Stream but are clogged with hedge cutting debris and no proper drainage route from the ditches to the stream now exists. This backup of rainfall and ground water now regularly floods the road junction, which can then freeze and become very dangerous.

The water also enters sewers and contributes markedly to the backup of flow into the Rokemarsh pumping station, causing sewage to be deposited into my garden for the last 6 weeks or more. I believe that the landowner responsible for the ditches lives in Ewelme and this requires enforcement on grounds of health and road safety.
