Inadequate signage for approach to Northern Bypass

I think there used to be a large sign indicating which way to turn (A40 Cheltenham or A40 London) from Marsh Lane. The current sign is too small, only indicates London, and is after the junction. This route is used by many people unfamiliar with the area (e.g. visitors to the JR Hospital) who therefore need better directions.
