Series of potholes for 120 yards.

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 07:01, Thursday 25 January 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Series of several potholes. Between chicane and old railway bridge. Permanently under water, presumably from poor drainage of runoff from fields. Cars move to centre of road to avoid unknown depth of holes. On a gentlebend so oncoming traffic issues.

Council ref: ENQ24989375

  • This continues to be dangerous and only safe to drive in the middle of the road if clear. Dangerous to drive at night on this route home from work. Difficult to avoid trench of potholes if traffic coming in opposite direction, cone flagging hole has been removed.

  • This road is rapidly becoming highly dangerous to the public. The road is near impassable travelling from Alvescot to Clanfield, causing oncoming traffic to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid this stretch of potholes.

The risk which is held by the council for continuing to ignore this issue is severe and will in no doubt result in a RTA in the near future if this is not rectified immediately.

  • Please could we have some more traffic cones to place in the deeper holes, as their depth cannot be judged due to the water level.

  • This problem with multiple potholes has been outstanding for more than three months and is becoming increasingly worse. It is very dangerous now and basically restricts the road to 1 lane, near a chicane with no cones or warning. This is completely unacceptable, it's about time OCC fixed the problem. As time progresses more deep potholes appear. It's about time that the problem is fixed. What are you waiting for OCC, a fatality? Get it sorted now!

  • The road either side of Alvescot before the chicane is like driving in a 3rd world country. The Black Bourton side is getting worse and worse and OCC seemingly do not care. After all, they’ve wasted all of their money on pointless 20mph signs. They are incompetent at best and think that they can willfully waste money, fail in their duty to repair the roads and yet increase my 4k a year council tax. A shambolic mess of a council that show utter disdain for residents.
