Cyclelane view blocked by bushes/trees + unsafe design.

Reported via desktop in the Suggested improvements category anonymously at 12:18, Tuesday 23 January 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Cycling east along here yesterday morning a driver pulled out completely into the pavement/shared cycle lane without checking for any oncoming cyclists. Given the lack of verge and this being a busy 60mph road, there was a real risk that had I been arriving 2 seconds earlier I would have been knocked off into oncoming traffic. This is partly the fault of the driver, and also the design of the cyclepath and lack of visibility. There is not much to be done about the design other than increased signage or a speed bump into the driveway, or lowering the main road speed limit, but the visibility could be improved by cutting back the bushes. Unfortunately it felt like a real risk I could have been killed here and makes me think twice about using this cycle lane in future.
