Ice on cycle lane, headington hill

Reported via mobile in the Suggested improvements category anonymously at 22:29, Tuesday 16 January 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The cycle path on Headington Hill is not fit for purpose. Where there are drains, water runs on the road and this morning it froze over creating extremely treacherous conditions. I skidded off my bike here and was extremely lucky not to be run over by a bus going alongside, and have been left with several stitches in my face. Whilst sitting on a bench recovering, not 2 minutes later a man came off his bike in the exact same spot and I believe broke several bones. A man on a scooter came off after him. Of course cyclists must be careful in icy conditions, but there was no way to avoid this ice patch and it could have genuinely cost lives today. At the very least, please grit the cycle lane!
