Continuous water flow eroding road.

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 23:14, Saturday 13 January 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Previously reported last year, nothing done. Water (likely from a spring) is continuously flowing down Woodperry Hill and the Straight Mile. It is eroding the edges of the road (both sides), creating deep ruts into which a wheel could be dropped, and is a hazard to cyclists and motorbikes. The road therefore, is narrowing, and to avoid the ruts cars are driving closer to the centre of the road, increasing the risk of a head-on collision. Firstly, if it is a spring, it must be found and diverted AWAY from the road. Secondly, the road must be repaired all the way down. In might be a good idea to cut away a strip of the verge and fill, making the road a little wider. The water flow is also increasing the potholes on this stretch, also reported by many, but they are usually filled cheaply and quickly, and so erode again after just a few months. A PROPER job must be done on this before a serious accident occurs. Spend the Council Tax money from this area, which is around £3500 per home, on fixing this road.
