Tarmac and stone Debris from burst water main and road verge strewn across road
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 13:31, Wed 13 December 2023
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The whole of Stant Hill lane is covered in excess debris from the burst water main at the Tadmarton end and also all the way down from the Shutford Road end. The Shutford road end is due to constant flooding on that road which flows down the lane carrying road and other debris. The gullies are all blocked so the water just carries the debris and deposits it all the way down to the bottom. The road needs a road sweeper to clean the entire length and all the gullies need digging clear to allow the rainwater to flow off the road.
As ever the problem on the Shutford road junction is the fact that the drains are not big enough to carry away a modest amount of rain, so are constantly flooded due to our ever increasing amounts of climate change rainfall. It needs a major upgrade.

Area tidied up and grips cut through verge to stop water running down the road to low point in Stant Hill Road. Thames Water repaired their water leak. Job to be carried out to pipe the spring int the ditch opposite Stant Hill Farm

LOL… area tidied up is nonsense. Nothing has been done along the whole length of the road. And as for grips, plural, there is a single small dugout that does not even connect to the side ditch but ends next to a tree trunk, so at best it’s a soak away rather than channeling the water to the main ditch, dug by someone with something that must resemble a beach spade. A mechanical digger is required to do the job properly in multiple locations.
