Mud on road - Illegal? Highways Act 1980?

Apparently no attempt make to prevent or even minimise migration of mud onto the road. Unpleasant for walkers, dog-walkers and cyclists. Possibly dangerously slippery.

Trucks queuing up to enter the site. Trucks bringing soil INTO the site. Is it being used as a dumping ground for a development elsewhere?

Does the speculator anticipate making multiple millions profit on this development? Most local residents neither wanted nor wanted this development. Is it mainly to fulfil it the greed of the developer? Could they not spend a tiny proportion of their profit on ensuring the road is clean?

Legal notes “Farmers and contractors are legally obliged to ensure that if their vehicles leave mud, and other deposits, on the road, they are responsible to clean it up.   • Thank you for reporting this. We have contacted the Developer and reminded them of their responsibilities and requested that they clean the road as a matter of urgency and make sure it is clear of mud and stones. We have also reminded them that they must have wheel washing facilities on site.

    You can also report this to the Planning Enforcement Team at South Oxfordshire District Council, as this will be a condition in their Planning Permission.
