Roundabout effectiveness.

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 17:30, Mon 27 November 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

I have been unable to find out why 5 months' worth of work was carried out on the roundabout. Nor have I been able to find out if it was considered to be successful. Logic says (and it's an assumption) that the work was to make it safer for traffic exiting Ware Road by slowing down the northbound traffic. In my view (as a neighbouring resident), it has made no difference to the speed of traffic, a large proportion of which is well above the speed limit. Unfortunately (also in my view), the action which might have reduced the traffic speed is the only work not done - ie to reduce the northbound roundabout entrance to one lane by moving the footpath further out into the road and so creating more of a chicane. This would also have taken a lot less than 5 months. I would love an informed response and consequently further work to achieve what should have been done originally.
