Knowle Lane/B430 drainage ditch not draining - risk of flooding residential property

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 18:06, Fri 24 November 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

A resident at the top of Knowle Lane has reported that the ditch fronting B430 on the corner of Knowle Lane has been filling up and nearly flooding the residential property as when the ditch fills up it does not flow away under the road. The resident has had an independent expert to review the ditch and the lack of drainage to the front of the property and has advised that the ditch should flow under the lane to the culvert on the other side of the road but is not currently doing so. I believe this property was also flooded in the recent past so the rise in water levels is of particular concern. This issue has been looked a few years ago and the pipe cleared out but please could it be investigated again as it seems there is a wider problem possibly linking under the road. The clerk to the Parish Council can put you in contact with the resident to discuss the issue further. Many thanks for your help (PC).

  • I am just enquiring on behalf of the resident if there is an update to the investigations being carried out on the drains alongside and to the front of Knowle Lane. The weather has obviously been very wet and the adjacent ditch running alongside the first property on Knowle Lane (adjacent to B430) is again overflowing into their garden and driveway and their is some serious concern as this property was previously flooded. Additional contact info for the resident can be provided for an update. Many thanks

  • Additional concerns over levels of water encroaching on the property. With further rain forecast we are enquiring if there is an update as per the above at all? Many thanks
