Cycle path not maintained
Reported via desktop in the Potholes and maintenance category by Peter Clarke at 14:32, Wed 22 November 2023
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The cycle path Oxford to Cassington A40 on both sides needs to be restored to it's full width. A cycle path needs to be ~2m wide to allow cyclists in both directions to pass safely. This path was originally this width when it was last resurfaced in the late 90s. Over the years it has narrowed to less than 2 feet wide in many places for various reasons: -trees and shrubs not pruned and allowed to grow onto and very close to the cycle path. -leaves not cleared turn to compost every year and narrow the path. -gradual encroachment of grass at the edges. -uncleared accident debris including piles of soil pushed onto the path. -vehicles (including council maintenance vehicles) drive along the path squashing the mud on the sides onto the path. Some path clearing was recently done near Cassington ( picture attached . Permit no. KE40099627390) which is good. Please clear the rest of the path to Oxford to >2m wide so it is useable safely as intended.
