Broken Bollards

Reported via Android in the Road Markings category anonymously at 15:27, Thu 9 November 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later

These bollards were knocked down by a lorry. I have previously reported these and you have responded saying they are fixed. THEY ARE NOT FIXED. I have personally made temporary repairs to them to keep them visible for everyone's safety, but they are loose and wonky. They need to be replaced properly and clipped into the ground.

  • The Developer is aware that the bollards have been damaged at the buildout. This issue was also picked up during the Road Safety Audit Stage 3 that has recently been undertaken. It was recommended that the bollards are replaced with a rebound type specification and an additional bollard is installed within the verge to increase to conspicuity of the traffic calming feature and highlight the narrowness of the cycle bypass. This has been agreed by all parties and will be actioned in the upcoming weeks. We will chase this up with the Developer and request that these bollards are installed as a priority.

  • Thank you for such a detailed response! This all sounds great, although I'm disappointed that the bollards are being re-specified yet again. For years we've had broken and mismatched street furniture making the place feel untidy, and the last time the bollards were replaced with matching white ones throughout the village's traffic calming it felt like the place was finally being tidied up. They were installed with sockets in the ground for ease of replacement, so should they be changed yet again? Either way I hope they are fixed/replaced with bollards that match the rest of the village.

  • The bollards have been knocked down. Again. Seeing as this keeps happening they can't be the right permanent solution.
