Bend warning chevron sign knocked over

Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category anonymously at 14:33, Sat 4 November 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This has occurred in the last day or so. This is a dangerous right hand bend when approaching from the direction of Marlborough School along Shipton Road. Clearly someone has taken the bend too fast and run into the road sign. Recently in another incident, a vehicle missed the bend and landed in the ditch to the right of the sign in the photo. I would suggest that repair is urgent as the chevrons are now not so easy to see in daytime or in the dark. Traffic along Shipton Road rarely obeys the speed limit and vehicles often take the corner too wide.

  • This matter has not been fixed. I am appalled to see it is still under investigation. Viewing the photos, it can be seen that on approach from the point where the photo was taken the road takes a sharp right hand bend (90 degrees) The warning sign of a bend has broken in two, the other half lies on the floor. As described in my report of November 4th. The remaining half is free to swing around its post (or be moved around) and currently it indicates that the bend is to the left This is dangerous as there is no Road to the left, only the start of a bridle way.
