Poorly designed junction

Reported via desktop in the Suggested improvements category by Peter Brewer at 21:44, Tue 31 October 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This is a newly implemented junction for a cycle crossing from the new Kings Gate estate to the Abingdon ring road cycle path. There are two main issues: - The path is at 90 degrees to the main road and sloped, meaning that children on bikes have to continually hold brakes to prevent rolling into the road. A temporary chicane has been put in place but this doesn't prevent children (or adult) cyclists being directed into the main road. - The angle between the traffic lights and the path to the new estate doesn't provide turning room to get around the obstace (lights). This is an issue when supervising children or with larger cycles (trailers / tag alongs / cargo bikes etc).

The issue was previously raised at the following link but closed due to lack of updates: https://www.fixmystreet.com/ report/ 4125171
