Hedge and verge overgrown

Reported via desktop in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 10:43, Monday 2 October 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The hedge has completely overgrown the path and the footpath is disappearing through overgrown grass and weeds. The footpath is used by quite a few people daily (and a lady who pushes a wheelchair to get to the bus stop at The Unicorn Pub). It is on a blind bend - you have to step off the footpath and onto the road and walk around the bend before being able to see if traffic is coming towards you. There is another section further up the same road, just before Stevens Lane, which is similarly overgrown but is on a straight piece of road so oncoming traffic can be seen.

  • Landowners and occupiers are required to trim any hedge on their property that is next to the public highway where the growth is preventing the passage, or affecting the safety, of the highway user. In this instance the highway does appear to be obstructed  from full use. The land/property owner will be contacted and if action is not untaken we will follow up accordingly.
