Sink hole 11cm wide at opening by 25cm deep

Reported via mobile anonymously at 18:55, Mon 18 September 2023

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

A hole has appeared on the road outside our house (21 Kyetts Corner, OX17 1JW) over the last two days. It is currently 11cm wide at the opening by 25cm deep. However when shining a light into the hole I can see that it is much wider underneath. Approximately 100cm wide.

We have to drive over this in order to access our driveway on a daily basis. Please can you send someone to assess and fix it asap.

  • I have put two planks of wood over the hole as it has doubled in size in the last 24 hours. I’m worried as it’s increasing in size so quickly and that someone may injure themselves as the road is used by a number of vehicles and pedestrians on a daily basis.

  • I’ve checked the hole again tonight and it has grown by another few cm in the last 24 hours.

  • As this hole is increasing in size I can no longer move my vehicle from my driveway. If it continues to increase nobody will be able to move their vehicles from the cul de sac. Please send someone to fix this ASAP!!

  • I called OCC on 22/08/23 and was told that this case would be marked as urgent. So far nobody has been in touch about this hole or been to even have a look at it let alone fix it. I’m still unable to move my vehicle as I have to drive over this hole. When will this be fixed???
