The holly tree roots are encroaching onto 'The Cottage' foundations
Reported via mobile anonymously at 14:30, Monday 18 September 2023
Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The roots from the holly tree outside The Cottage', Main Street, Wroxton, Banbury OX156QL are encroaching onto the foundations of my property. I've tried to upload 2 photos. Not sure if successful. Ideally I would like the tree removed. It was not planted but must have grown from a seed.
Please tell me the appropriate way forward.
Regards, June Homans

Thank you for your report. I have visited site and inspected the trees & vegetation as described in the enquiry. The vegetation present appears growing beyond the area that OCC maintains and is therefore deemed to be an adjacent boundary feature. OCC, as the local highway authority, maintain the HMPE (highway maintainable at public expense) from boundary feature to boundary feature. As such the vegetation present is maintainable by the adjacent property/land owner, and not the county council, to maintain as they wish. Should you require a more detail on this matter, please contact our highway records team at: highway.records@oxfordshire.gov.uk
