Flood potential due to blocked drains.

Following the heavy rainfall last night all of the drains (2 on a 1/4 mile downward stretch from the 30 mph sign & 3 at the junction with Stonesfield Lane) on the B4437 Woodstock Road into Charlbury are blocked and surface water created a flood on the bend opposite Stonesfield Lane. Please can these be unblocked as a matter of urgency due to the weather forecast for further heavy rain this week? As a matter of relevant interest when the road sweeper cleans the roadsides on Woodstock Road they do not ever go up and down the hill only on the flat and use the junction with Stonesfield Lane as the turning point. The leaves mud and shale collect on the unswept hill and consequently get washed down the road repeatedly blocking the inadequate number of drains. In order to prevent surface floodwater entering our property my husband has just spent 2 hours clearing the road and drains as best he can with a shovel! Looking to the future there is a proposal for a further 28 houses to be built on the Woodstock Road. Highways will need to look very seriously at the drainage situation should planning permission be granted for this development.
