The pedestrian crossing & school traffic (cars) obstructing footpaths

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 17:41, Mon 11 September 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The pedestrian crossing is a crossing that vehicles are obliged to stop at & this has not happened on a number of occasions due to drivers not paying attention or driving too fast.

Secondly cars seem to stop along Faringdon road to pick up pupils from Abingdon school they either pull up on the pavement & block pedestrian access along the pavement or they stop within the chevron lines for the crossing this happens despite Abingdon School having a designated pick up point in Park Crescent.

As a regular commuter (walking) I have seen a few near misses involving children & cars on the pedestrian crossing along with inconsiderate parking causing myself & other pedestrians to walk in the road, I don’t think this area is a pick up point for school pupils.
