Max weight and width restriction info required.

Reported via mobile in the Bridges category anonymously at 19:48, Monday 14 August 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

We need to know the max width and weight info on the bridge to see whether large HGVs should be using it. We are getting an increasingly large number of these vehicles coming through the village which is causing issues due to the roads being narrow.

Apparently this is due to the HGV SatNav map set directing them. If you know how to get this changed it would be appreciated. Otherwise it is an accident waiting to happen.

  • Unfortunately I don’t think you have the correct information held. The bridge is actually only 3.8m wide (absolute max) but the road is only 2.7m. I suspect the the 44tGVW is also therefore not correct. This is a very old bridge. Could it be that you gave me the spec for the bridge along Swerford Heath Hill rather than the bridge on Wigginton Rd/Mill Lane?

  • Has there been a visual inspection of this yet? We are still getting oversized lorries coming through which cause problems for the drivers and also the villagers.
