Amazing! Obviously a potted response!

Reported via desktop in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 12:53, Thursday 3 August 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

If this query had been properly investigated it would have been known that the road markings were renewed on Tuesday 1st August, along with the junction of Goring Heath Road and the B471. See photo. The road markings at the junction of Orchard Coombe and Goring Heath Road were not done, and it should be pointed out that markings are almost non-existent at all minor roads joining Goring Heath Road (Hill Bottom, Riveacres, Oakdown Close and Bec Tithe) You state that budget has NEARLY all been allocated, still some budget then, so what about residential streets, I can only assume at best that priority is lower, or, at worst that they are unimportant! Specifically, Orchard Coombe is not a cul-de-sac but a through Road, used as a rat run by many. I do not know where our taxes go, but we cannot get footpath and curbs repaired, drains cleared or roads swept, however many times the issues are raised. The residents spend an inordinate amount of time keeping clean areas that should be council responsibility, together with addressing road safety issues, such as hedgerows restricting visibility at junctions.

  • Since your last response at the beginning of August, in which you stated that NEARLY all budget had been allocated, the road markings at the exit of Hill Bottom Close have been repainted (see photo), quite correctly. Nevertheless, Hill bottom Close is a Cul-de-sac, hence has limited traffic. Orchard Coombe connects the B471 and Goring Heath Road and is used as a fairly busy short cut. Why cannot the road markings and other issues on Orchard Coombe not be addressed?

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately all Councils are working with very limited funds & therefore we have to prioritise any works. The work carried out at Hill Bottom Close was undertaken with the last of this years budget and we anticipate the works on Orchard Coombe will be undertaken with the first of next financial year.
