Damaged footpath between Council car park and Hollybush road Carterton

Reported via iOS in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Cllr Nick Leverton at 14:29, Tue 25 July 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Following a representation from a member of the public as their County Councillor they approached me regarding the path from the Council car park through to Hollybush road. They also mentioned at night it was extremely dark as the only light is some 10 mtrs away and is completely encased by trees. I did a site visit and the path is indeed dangerous as one part has bulged upwards and the remainder has had some pipe works done and the trench repair is uneven, has deteriorated badly leaving pot hole size damage and I would ask that a site visit is carried out to assess the narrow pathway. This is causing difficulty for both pedestrians and wheelchair users alike. With the onset of winter I would ask that works are carried out as soon as practicable . Ref the street light I am somewhat at a loss as to why it has been placed so far from the path entrance where it’s much needed light would illuminate the very dark pathway. To confirm I also visited the area at night and it did indeed need a light source to make it safe.
