Bridge damage

There has been a noticable increase of HGV’s using this road. Over the past few weeks I have seen more damage to the tops of the bridge walls, obviously they have been struck by a large vehicle. At least one coping stone has been knocked off. There are also several deep groove marks in the stone work

In addition to the damage to some of the coping stones , Serious cracks (photo 1) have appeared in the wall of Ickford Bridge on the Ickford side of the bridge over the River Thame - lefthand side of bridge as you exit the village. The crack extends from the top of the wall to the base and if the damage continues there is serious risk of the bridge wall collapsing into the river. The mortar between the stones is currently being further eroded by an ant infestation exacerbating the issue. There is a further crack in the wall nearer to Ickford. The wall is overgrown at the base with vegetation and in parts being overgrown by ivy and brambles.
