Blocked grips causing big dangerous puddles

Reported via mobile in the Gully and Catchpits category anonymously at 14:44, Thursday 20 July 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Despite previous requests, the grips on B471 between St Johns Church & Goffs Clump are still silted up. The Thames Water leak at the Coombe End lane junction has been running all the way down to just North of the Church, as all 8 grips were blocked. A neighbour unblocked the top 2, & I've had a go at the other 6 on the West side of the road, which helps in the short term, but if the grips were cleaned out properly, there is plenty of capacity, & even this fast leak may not reach the low point, where the main soak away cannot cope. The leak has been running for a week or so, but the big puddles occur whenver we have heavy rain, as the grips are simply not working.

  • Water still deep across the road here, with no warning signs, causing a driving hazard, especially at night + erosion damaged to verges, which will eventually cause further blocking of the storm drains. This had been like this for over a week, could the county council road maintenance please fix this, very soon.
