Irresponsible cycling along the Rene Brogan Path

"I have been asked by the residents of Millar Close to see if anything can be done to curb cyclists using the above footpath. We have been bothered by teenagers careering down the path and often exiting it onto Millar Close. Some occupants, most of whom are quite elderly, have had very near misses when gardening in their front garden. We now have quite a lot of young children living in the close who play outside. Being a cul de sac this is usually quite safe but these cyclists are altering the position quite drastically. At the Westfield Road end of the path there is nothing to stop cyclists entering onto the path, not even a no cycling sign let alone blocking posts. Even the posts at the other two entrances do not deter cyclists as the posts are spaced much too far apart to stop them. This really is a serious accident waiting to happen and we would be very grateful for anything you could do to help" I am a district councillor just passing on this information but I wonder if some more posts at the accesses along the path would slow down these bikes?
