Water running off the main road when it rains

When we have more than a light shower of rain, water runs off the road and floods the area in front of our house and at times comes up to the air brick and covers the gas smart meter, this has been happening for years now and I have been told probably isnt doing the building any good. Other buildings along the road have slightly raised edging stones along the main road but this property doesnt.
