Lack of street lighting in school parking

Reported via mobile anonymously at 22:57, Thursday 8 June 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council 1 minute later

The Chilton county primary school offers afternoon clubs until 6 pm everyday. During the winter with sunset happening in mid afternoon it is pitch black often by 4:30 pm. Although the whole surrounding village around residences is well illuminated with street lights the car park for the Chilton primary school has no lights whatsoever. When picking up children after 4 pm from late September to February many parents - often women - have to walk from their car to the school to pick up their children and then back to the car with their children without help of street lighting. It is not uncommon to see parents walking around with their mobile phone torches. Some young parents have mentioned to be scarred to do this school pickup and at times organise to pick in grounds. Can we add street lights that only need to be in up to the end of afternoon club at 6 pm and in the winter months?
