Council tree over hanging gardens on medina gardens

Reported via mobile in the Trees category anonymously at 07:51, Sunday 4 June 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The tree is on the public footpath leading to the field on Beaumont square. The tree drops sap over our garden (medina gardens) and the branches over hang the garden and block sunlight to our garden. It has got increasingly bigger over time and blocking more light.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. I have visited site and assessed the trees in their location. The trees present are on land not deemed to be part of the publicly maintained highway by OCC in our capacity as local highway authority. The trees present are on land maintainable by an adjacent landowner and not by the County Council. You can access the land registry at: https://www.gov.uk/ search-property-information-land-registry to find details of the adjacent landowner to pursue your enquiry. You are also within your common law rights as a landowner to cut any overhanging vegetation back to the boundary line of your property.
