Lack of speed signs, speed signs need to be added

Reported via mobile in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 15:22, Saturday 3 June 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Cumnor Hill Road requires new speed-limit signs please (30mph) to be installed along the road. Its a large road and people think they can drive at least 40-50mph there. Unfortunately there is only one construction sign considerably way up the road saying the speed limit was changed (to 30mph) but people need to be alerted earlier because it used to be 40mph and people were speeding above that too. Signs need to be installed please at the bottom of Cumnor Hill road, near the speed camera, and every few yards up the hill. People speed up from the bottom of the hill. As an example, Eynsham Road has new speed signs every few meters which is very helpful.

  • Thank you for your report. I have read this report and assessed the issue you have identified. I am re-assigning this report, requesting new 30mph speed-limit signs to be installed, 'at the bottom of Cumnor Hill, near the speed camera, and every few yards up the hill', Botley/Cumnor, to the Vale Traffic Schemes Team for their appraisal and assessment.

  • Thank you for your report. As this road has a system of street lighting we shouldn't put 30 repeater signs in. This road has no plans to be changed to a 20mph unlike Eynsham Road which has recently been changed to 20mph.
