High verges to limit vision coming onto the road

Reported via mobile anonymously at 07:23, Sat 3 June 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

I was riding a horse out of the bridleway, but couldn't see right until at the point of entry onto the road. A large dump truck came charging pay the road as he didn't see me either until it was too late. My horse was upset by the noise and it was rather dangerous. Please can the verges/hedges be cut back to aid vision. Thank you

As a bridleway, the sharp, large stones that have been laid on the track are also unsuitable for horses- very uncomfortable for their feet. Could smaller pebbles be laid on top to make it easier ground for the horses?

  • Thank you for your enquiry, highway verge grass cutting is undertaken once a year between May and August For details of the policy please go to  https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf  Initially, we concentrate our resources on vision splays at junctions and then move round the network throughout these months. This does mean some verges are cut later than others.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
