Speed of vehicles

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 04:59, Saturday 3 June 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

We have lived here for 2 years and have reported several times about the speed of traffic along this road. The HGV, cars and motorcycles travel above the 40mph speed limits for this section of the Southam Road, causing noise pollution. The HGVs apply their air brakes to allow them to stop intime for the roundabout, throughout the night. We have had to have 10ft fencing put up to allow us to be able to use our garden. Our elderly neighbours are finding it just as an inconvenience as they are in the bungalow opposite the crossing and have had double glazing fitted to no avail.. Please can the street be monitored for speed of vehicles In this area of Southam road. We would like to see the speed reduced or a camera installed (this would bring in a steady flow of money as it hasn't changed in the two years), I will be reporting this to the environmental agency as nothing has been done via yourselves In the 2 years I have been reporting this. It is having an impact on my health, causing me lack of sleep and high blood pressure (on medication for last 4 months) due to stress and lack of 8 hours sleep a night. We have a new build site (beechgrove homes) going up with the entrance opposite the rear of our property and our neighbours feel this is going to cause even more problems/accidents as vehicles will not stop in time for those that live on the estate.
