Dangerous nuisance parking - please install bollards

Reported via mobile in the Pavements category anonymously at 11:50, Friday 26 May 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The wide footway on Speedwell Street adjacent to Tesco is routinely used by antisocial vehicle drivers as parking for the shop. This obstructs the view of the adjacent zebra crossing for approaching vehicles going eastbound on Speedwell Street. The zigzag lines are simply ignored.

Please consider installing bollards 0.5-1.0m from the kerbline to prevent parking in this area.

Updates

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

    State changed to: Investigating

  • Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that it does not currently meet the criteria for intervention, so will not be fixing at this time.

Unfortunately projects like this will have to compete with others that may have a higher priority as more reports are received (for example where there are greater safety implications).

Also vehicles parking in either a dangerous position or in such a manner as to cause an obstruction of the public highway are commingling an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, this legislation is enforced by Thames Valley Police.

It's down to them to deal with this issue.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
