Unfinished resurfacing and cones left for several weeks - Dunmore Road carriageway approaching Peachcroft Roundabout

Reported via desktop anonymously at 14:03, Fri 19 May 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

Please could the road resurfacing be finished. The signs on the approach give timescales in 2022, and probably only serve to distract drivers. Lots of cones also on 40 mph road. No work on the this section of road has happened for a few weeks. What is happening and what are new timescales?

  • Thanks. Work recommenced on Monday 22 May. Still underway better looks so good seeing proper road appearing and nicely finished. (NB. The section of road going west, just after Peachcroft roundabout, has a crack that is developing into a deepened groove running parallel with the centre of the road. If gets worse tyres may get trapped in the hollow as they go through it.)

  • Dear Karen,

The contractors, Hope and Clay have advised that the surfacing will be completed in the next 2 weeks, as they have been awaiting the installation of the new bus stops prior to completing the surfacing and removing the traffic management. We believe all the surfacing to the carriageways is almost completed, but there have been some delays from the service providers.

With regards to the crack, our Senior Site Inspector will have to investigate further to ascertain if it is within the scope of the developers works.

Please be advised, there are still substantial works programmed for further along Dunmore Road and further disruption and delays will be encountered.

    Kind regards
    Road Agreements Team
