Visibility issues on bend in road (parked cars on verges)

Reported via desktop anonymously at 08:54, Friday 19 May 2023

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Outside 118/118A Mill Street, and adjacent shops, are two grass verges. Cars park all day on the verges and it makes it impossible to see oncoming traffic rounding the bend from Evans Lane.

Please could you help by: A) preventing parking on the grass verges by some signs or posts blocking them? B) would it be possible to have a curved mirror on the opposite side of the road, placed so that the approaching traffic from Evans Lane is visible in Mill Street?

  • Thank you for reporting this issue. With regards to the mirror unfortunately we do not install mirrors on the highway as they are not approved by the department for transport and subsequently it's a county policy to not allow the installation on highway land. For everyday parking issues you need to get in touch with us at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ residents/ roads-and-transport/ parking. If vehicles are causing a dangerous obstruction, hazard or parking illegally please contact the non-emergency police telephone line on 101. If you would like to request changes to existing parking restrictions, you can contact Oxfordshire County Council's parking team at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ residents/ roads-and-transport/ parking/ new-parking-enforcement-areas.
