Constricted access Pound Lane, Clanfield

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 08:17, Friday 12 May 2023

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

I would be grateful if your department could resolve a vehicle access issue for the property Turkey House, Pound land, Clanfield. If the access constriction is not resolved, I fear a catastrophic incident may occur with regards to the health, safety and well-being of the occupiers of Turkey House. I understand that some road markings have been applied to the adopted highway surface in the vicinity of the Turkey House access-way. But if these are not amended slightly, the occupiers of Turkey House will continue to be at risk of not being accessible by emergency services. I am particularly concerned about ambulance access as the occupiers are very elderly. Please do not contact the occupiers. As personal friends, I feel they are not equipped to manage the stress involved in negotiating such matters, so please use me as their agent. The street parking that occurs is overspill visitor parking for the Double Red Duke Hotel. The Hotel is important as it adds significant vitality to the village. Its patronage and parking requirements also need consideration. Within this context, on-street parking should be considered in the light of the health, safety and well-being of all, including residents. Vehicle movement Currently the swept path that an ambulance would require cannot access Turkey House. But with an extension to the existing road markings, possible double yellow lining a short distance, a solution can be found for the vehicle circulation required. Please follow this enquiry with Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Services, (crmp@oxfordshire.gov.uk) (CCed). Their Community Risk Management Action Plan states they have a statutory duty to assess requirements.
